Fittingly, veteran lefty Jamie Moyer started against the Nationals wearing the uniform styled after the one worn 60 years earlier. They are missing the red pinstripes that have been part of the home threads since 1950.

They were unveiled in November in honor of the team's 125th anniversary as a franchise and will be donned for all home day games. The team wore this style of uniform from 1946-49, the switched to a red-pinstripe design as part of its home uniforms in 1950.

"It's a big league uniform," reliever Clay Condrey said. "That's all that matters."

The new jersey can be purchased on phillies.com and at the Majestic Clubhouse Store at Citizens Bank Park. The uniforms are made by Majestic Athletic, and the caps are from New Era.

Condrey noted the fabric of these uniforms had to be much lighter than the wool and flannel popular at that time. The right-hander, always quick with a quip, took it a step further, saying he'd wear his jersey and pants out to a restaurant.

"Why not?" he said. "I'd wear mine with cowboy boots, of course. If they had a camouflage design, I'd wear that, too."
