"Boch said he wanted to give me the full day off and not take any swings," said Rowand, who's batting a team-high .385 (5-for-13).
Rowand, who hurt himself Wednesday night at Los Angeles while diving for Blake DeWitt's bloop double, was noticeably slow running the bases upon hitting a sixth-inning double Friday. It was not immediately known whether Rowand would undergo X-rays to check for a possible fracture. In another injury-related development, Bochy said that left-hander Noah Lowry, who's recovering from surgery to his throwing forearm, tossed a ball at a 90-foot distance Friday and is expected to try to throw off a mound in a week to 10 days. Lowry isn't expected to pitch competitively until early May at the soonest, revising the initial late-April estimate.Chris Haft is a reporter for MLB.com.
