MILWAUKEE -- Ben Sheets threw a short bullpen session during batting practice on Saturday, shortly before his team was scheduled to face the Marlins.

The right-hander, who has yet to pitch in a game since he left Friday's outing in Cincinnati tightness in his right triceps, provided an optimistic outlook to the side session.

"It felt good," said Sheets, who will pitch Tuesday in Chicago if he reports no lingering effects of the ailment. "We'll see, but it felt good today. Tuesday's more important than all of [the days between then and now]. Today and tomorrow has a big impact, but Tuesday has the biggest impact."

Brewers manager Ned Yost said before Friday's game that his litmus test for allowing Sheets to pitch would be complete absence of any tightness.

The club has resisted putting Sheets, who has a recent history of atypical injuries, on the 15-day disabled list, and one of the byproducts has been a roster that includes 14 pitchers and just three bench players -- including a backup catcher Yost is reluctant to use except in an emergency.
