Butler making progress in Minors for KC
First baseman hitting and fielding well for Triple-A Omaha
CHICAGO -- Billy Butler's progress with Triple-A Omaha has been encouraging in his short stint so far.
In his first five games since being optioned, Butler batted .294 (5-for-17) with a double, two walks and no RBIs.
"He just needs to get confidence back offensively," Royals manager Trey Hillman said. "I just talked to [Omaha manager] Mike Jirschele the night before last, and he said he was better than what we reported here. He's starting to get that swagger back. Just missed a home run, was swinging the bat well and was playing a good first base."
Butler was demoted after batting .263 in 53 games for the Royals with 11 doubles, one home run and 18 RBIs.
When might Butler be expected back?
"As soon as we can see some consistency there," Hillman said.
