HOUSTON -- Brewers reliever David Riske threw a 30-35 pitch bullpen session and reported no problems, increasing the odds he'll be sent for a Minor League rehabilitation assignment during Milwaukee's next homestand.
Riske, who has been on the disabled list since May 15 with elbow and shoulder injuries, has been mired in a longer-than-expected rehabilitation. But after some successful flat-ground throwing over the weekend in Colorado, he was cleared for his first real mound session.
"I wanted to see where I was at, see if it comes back," said Riske, who threw all fastballs on Tuesday. "I let a few go today, and everything felt good."
Riske, who has a 4.71 ERA in 18 appearances this season, is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Thursday before the Brewers-Astros series finale.
