MINNEAPOLIS -- Guillermo Mota lowered his ERA by more than half a run on Thursday. What made the development especially interesting was that Milwaukee was enjoying an off-day.

Mota's ERA dropped from 4.50 to 3.90 after the Brewers successfully appealed a scoring change to the league from a play on June 12 in Houston. In that game, Astros center fielder Michael Bourn was awarded an infield hit after Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder dropped a Bill Hall throw that would have secured the out and ended the inning. Bourn subsequently scored on a Mark Loretta home run and both runs were counted as earned.

"It makes a big difference," Mota said. "It takes you like a month to get back to where you were. As a reliever, pitching maybe seven or eight times in a month, that's a big difference."

Fielder was assessed the error.

Mota was apprised of the league's decision, and subsequent annulled earned runs, from Brewers director of media relations Mike Vassallo.

"Bueno!" Mota responded.

Every member of the Milwaukee clubhouse wasn't as excited, however.

"I don't care about scoring changes," manager Ned Yost said.
