That's because the Phils had been one of the clubs expressing interest in reliever Brian Fuentes. Now, with Philadelphia having tapped its farm system in significant fashion, the Rockies have to be wondering if the Phillies would be willing to part with other highly rated prospects for Fuentes.

The more serious bidders there are, the better it will be for Colorado, as the Rockies try to draw maximum value for the veteran left-hander. An earlier report had the Rockies asking Philadelphia for right-hander Carlos Carrasco or catcher Lou Marson for Fuentes, but Phils general manager Pat Gillick shot down the notion that Philadelphia would surrender either of those prospects.
Still, the indications with two weeks remaining before the Trade Deadline are that the Rockies will have an abundance of serious offers to sift through, as contending clubs try to strengthen their bullpen.
The Rockies would like to reel in a young starter like the Yankees' Phil Hughes or Ian Kennedy or a couple of Double-A prospects like the Rays' Wade Davis or Jeremy Hellickson.
Tampa Bay may have a couple of Colorado position players on its radar screen. The Denver Post reported on Friday that the Rays have interest in center fielder Willy Taveras and infielder Clint Barmes.
The other club from Florida continues to be prominently mentioned in trade rumor conversations as well. The Marlins came to the All-Star break just 1 1/2 games back in the National League East, and reports say the club is prepared to aggressively go after talent for a push to the playoffs.
The Marlins would love to add an experienced catcher and reliever. They have the farm system and young talent on the Major League roster to draw the interest of those clubs which are concentrating on long-term improvement.
Florida could conceivably dangle first baseman Mike Jacobs. He'll be up for arbitration after this season and the Marlins could switch Jorge Cantu from third to first and use Wes Helms at third if Jacobs were to be involved in a deal.
