ANAHEIM -- Angels manager Mike Scioscia was thrown out of the game by home-plate umpire Bill Hohn during the fifth inning of Sunday's game against the Rangers.

Scioscia was ejected after arguing from the dugout about a pitch thrown by right-hander John Lackey to Hank Blalock that was ruled a ball by Hohn. Scioscia was angry Hohn didn't ask third-base umpire Dale Scott to see if Blalock, a left-handed hitter, went around on his check swing.

Scioscia was tossed from the dugout, but he immediately ran onto the field to argue with Hohn about the call and the ensuing ejection. The skipper remained on the field for a few minutes to argue with Hohn and Scott before exiting into the clubhouse.

"It was an interesting day out there," Scioscia said after the game. "We certainly had our opinions on some calls. I'm sure the other side did, too. That's just part of baseball."

Rangers manager Ron Washington and catcher Gerald Laird were also ejected later in the game by Hohn.

It was the fourth time Scioscia had been ejected from a game this season and the second time this week -- as he left early Wednesday against the A's.
