WASHINGTON -- The Nationals are looking for a Triple-A affiliate, and it appears that the Syracuse Chiefs are the frontrunners, according to two baseball sources, although New Orleans could be in the mix. An announcement could be made sometime this week.

Nationals general manager Jim Bowden and team president Stan Kasten were not available for comment.

For the past two years, Washington's Triple-A affiliate was Columbus, but according to published reports, the Clippers will be doing business with the Indians.

Columbus went 69-73 under manager Tim Foli this season. In 2005-06, the Nationals were affiliated with New Orleans.
