The Red Sox's comeback from a 7-0 deficit in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Thursday, to beat the Rays, 8-7, and cut Tampa Bay's series lead to 3-2, was the second largest in postseason history, eclipsed only by the Philadelphia A's rallying from 8-0 down to beat the Cubs in Game 4 of the 1929 World Series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
But no team facing postseason elimination had ever rallied back from seven or more runs down.
