Playoffs

Licey 3, Azucareros 2
Rays infielder Willy Aybar homered to snap a seventh-inning tie as the Tigres edged the Azucareros to improve to 4-3 in the postseason. Aybar also doubled and delivered an RBI single, while Blue Jays third baseman Jose Bautista drove in the other run for Licey.

Nationals prospect Ricardo Nanita went 3-for-4 with an RBI for the Azucareros, who fell to 4-4 in the round robin playoffs. Box score

Aguilas 7, Gigantes 3
Baltimore's Luis Terrero hit a three-run homer and scored three times to pace the Aguilas' offense and help them improve to 2-4 in the round robin playoffs. Former Minor Leaguer Santiago Ramirez picked up the win in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out three over 2 1/3 innings.

The Gigantes' loss now ties them with Licey for the best record (4-3) in the first round. Box score

Zulia 4, Aragua 3
Nationals outfielder Alberto Gonzalez singled home the go-ahead run in the eighth inning as the Aguilas squared their record at 1-1 in the round robin playoffs. Diamondbacks prospect Gerardo Parra, a participant in the 2008 All-Star Futures Game, collected four hits and scored a run for Zulia.

Former Pacific Coast League All-Star Rene Reyes drove in two runs and Major League veteran Luis Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a run scored for Aragua, which has lost two in a row to fall to 1-2. Box score

Orioles farmhand Guillermo Rodriguez homered twice and drove in three runs as the Cardenales pounded the Tiburones for their second win in three playoff games. Former Braves and Orioles Minor Leaguer Carlos Duran added a two-run shot, while big league veteran Vladimir Nunez pitched five effective innings for Lara.

Rangers catcher Max Ramirez hit an RBI single for La Guaira, which fell to 1-1. Box score

Obregon 5, Mazatlan 3
Rangers right-hander Luis Mendoza struck out nine over six solid innings as the Yaquis won for the first time in three playoff games. Carlos Valencia drove in two runs and Marlins infielder Alfredo Amezaga and former Braves farmhand Iker Franco hit solo homers for Obregon.

Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez had three hits, including a double, while Minor League veteran Jon Weber contributed two hits and an RBI for Mazatlan (2-1). Box score

Former Major Leaguer Vinny Castilla hit a walk-off single in the ninth inning as the Naranjeros improved to 2-1 in the postseason. Big league veteran Geronimo Gil had tied the game with an RBI double in the eighth for Hermosillo.

Former Major Leaguer Benji Gil's two-run double highlighted a four-run fifth inning as the Aguilas rallied past the Caneros. Oswaldo Morejon had three hits, including a double, and a run scored for Mexicali (1-2), while former Pacific Coast League MVP Jose Ortiz went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI for Los Mochis (2-1). Rays prospect Gabriel Martinez homered in the top of the 10th inning as the first-place Leones wrapped up the regular season by outlasting the Lobos. Nationals farmhand Jorge Padilla homered and drove in three runs for Arecibo before he was ejected in the ninth. Box score

Free agent Javier Valentin hit a two-run single in a four-run third inning that carried the Cangrejeros past the Indios. Nationals catcher Wil Nieves had two hits, including a two-run homer, for Mayaguez. Box score

Former Major Leaguer Armando Rios doubled twice and drove in two runs as the Gigantes held off the Criollos in the regular-season finale for both teams. Orioles farmhand Omir Santos hit a two-run double for Caguas. Box score
