KANSAS CITY -- Right-hander Roman Colon has been re-signed by the Royals to a Minor League contract and invited to next month's Major League camp, the club announced Monday.

Colon, 28, was a free agent after compiling a 5-5 record and a 4.64 ERA in 23 games and 10 starts last summer for Triple-A Omaha. He also pitched in 10 games for Double-A Northwest Arkansas, going 2-0 with a 5.29 ERA in 10 relief outings.

He was acquired by the Royals on July 13, 2007, in a trade with the Detroit Tigers for pitcher Danny Christensen. Colon has been in 73 big league games with the Tigers and the Atlanta Braves, posting a 6-7 record and 4.69 ERA.
