Playoffs

Hermosillo 3, Guasave 0
Fracisco Campos, a long-time Mexican League great, allowed just two hits and a walk over eight shutout innings to put Hermosillo a win away from winning the first-round series. Campos struck out six and Cincinnati's Jon Adkins picked up the save with a hitless ninth inning.

Juan Canizalez provided all the offense needed with a two-run single in the second inning, while free agent Humberto Cota tacked on an insurance run with an RBI double in the sixth. Box score

Mazatlan 7, Obregon 4
Former Major Leaguer Ruben Rivera broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the top of the ninth to put Mazatlan (3-1) a win away from advancing to the semifinals. Freddy Sandoval (Angels) tacked on two more insurance runs with a two-out single.

Former Minor Leaguer Iker Franco drove in all four runs for the Yaquis with an RBI hit-by-pitch and a three-run homer. Box score

Mochis 7, Mexicali 2
Milwaukee's Jason Bourgeois drove in four runs for Mochis, which improved to 3-1 in the seven-game, first-round series. The center fielder, who hit .342 in the regular season for the Caneros, hit a three-run homer in the ninth inning and also had a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Carlos Arrantia contributed by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Box score

Venezuelan Winter League
Playoffs

Aragua 1, Caracas 0
Marlins prospect Jesus Delgado allowed one hit and two walks and struck out two over four scoreless innings to earn the victory as six Tigres pitchers combined to shut out the Leones.

Horacio Estrada, Yohan Pino (Twins), Victor Moreno, Jose Mijares (Twins) and Francisco Butto chipped in to keep Caracas scoreless. Butto, who had eight saves during the regular season, earned his first of the playoffs.

Raul Chavez (Blue Jays) homered for the lone run of the game, which evened Aragua's round-robin playoff record to 2-2.

Jose Castillo had two of Caracas' four hits. The Leones, who finished the regular season in first place, fell to 2-2. Box score

Zulia 5, La Guaira 4
Zulia picked up its second playoff win in comeback fashion on Monday, scoring two runs in the top of the eighth to take its first lead of the day against La Guaira (1-2). Alberto Callaspo (Kansas City) tied the game with an RBI groundout and then scored the winning run on a wild pitch after advancing on Carlos Gonzalez's (Rockies) double. Baltimore's Oscar Salazar also contributed to Zulia's offense with a double, home run and two RBIs. Box score

Playoffs

Licey 8, Aguilas 2
Willy Aybar (Rays) collected three RBIs and Ronny Paulino (Phillies) homered and scored twice to boost the Tigres to 5-3 in the postseason.

Rafael Furcal (Dodgers) and Melky Cabrera (Yankees) each knocked in a run for the Aguilas (2-5). Box score

Gigantes 6, Azucareros 1
Philadelphia's Fabio Castro allowed just one run on four hits over five innings for the Gigantes, keeping them tied for first in round robin play with the defending-champion Tigres. Four relievers then combined to hold the Azucareros to just two hits in the final four innings.

Kendry Morales (Angels) homered twice and drove in three runs for Este, while Kansas City's Brayan Pena had two RBIs. Box score

Puerto Rican Winter League

Arecibo 4, Mayaguez 0
Mets prospect Rene Rivera smacked a two-run homer and scored twice and Rich Townsend had a pair of hits and crossed the plate to lead the Lobos over the Indios. Irving Falu (Royals) was 3-for-4 for Mayaguez, which will visit Caguas on Wednesday for the final playoff berth. Box score

Reggie Abercrombie (Astros) doubled, had two RBIs and scored and Gabriel Martinez (Rays) doubled and scored twice for the Leones, who finished first in the league's regular season. Justin Maxwell (Nationals) smacked a fifth-inning homer for the Criollos, who will host the Indios on Wednesday for the last postseason slot. Box score
