Royals extend non-roster invites to five
Robinson, who stole 62 bases in Class A, will join club this spring
KANSAS CITY -- Five Minor Leaguers have been invited by the Royals to join the Major League camp at Spring Training.
Included is outfielder Derrick Robinson, who stole 62 bases for Class A Wilmington and will be honored at Friday night's Royals Awards Dinner with the Willie Wilson Baserunner of the Year Award.
Another speedster is outfielder Jose Duarte, who had 28 steals and 10 homers for Double-A Northwest Arkansas. The other three are catchers: Cody Clark, who played for Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha; Jeff Howell, from Wilmington, and John Suomi, taken in the Rule 5 Draft from the Phillies organization.
