CINCINNATI - Several of the Reds organization's top prospects have been added to the list of non-roster players invited to Spring Training.
On Tuesday, the club announced that the eight Minor Leaguers coming to big league camp are shortstops Chris Valaika and Todd Frazier, outfielder Drew Stubbs, catcher Devin Mesoraco, left-handed pitchers Pedro Viola and Ben Jukich and right-handed pitchers James Avery and Jordan Smith.
In that group are three former first-round Draft picks in Stubbs (2006), Mesoraco (2007) and Frazier (supplemental first round, 2007). Valaika was the Reds' 2008 Minor League Player of the Year and the MLB.com's organizational Hitter of the Year.
The latest additions brought the total number of non-roster invites at Reds camp to 19.
Pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to the Reds' final Spring Training being held in Sarasota, Fla., on Feb. 14.
