The Marlins beefed up their list of Spring Training invitees on Tuesday, announcing the signing of eight Minor League free agents and extending a Spring Training invitation to an additional 16 players.

The Marlins signed infielders John Lindsey and Andy Gonzalez, outfielders Jay Gibbons -- whose signing was reported Monday -- and Michael Ryan, right-handed pitchers Brian Sanches and Michael Wood, and left-handers Willie Collazo and John Koronka.

The following players were extended an invitation to the club's Spring Training home in Jupiter, Fla.: infielders Chris Coghlan, Matt Dominguez, Manny Mayorson and Logan Morrison; outfielders Scott Cousins, Alejandro De Aza, John Raynor and Michael Stanton; catchers Brad Davis, Miguel Fermin and 2008 first-round Draft pick Kyle Skipworth; right-handed pitchers Jose Ceda (acquired from the Cubs in the trade that sent Kevin Gregg to Chicago), Henry Owens and Brett Sinkbeil; and left-handers Aaron Thompson and Sean West.

With Dallas McPherson and Gaby Sanchez competing for a corner-infield spot this spring, Morrison -- last season's Florida State League MVP after batting .332 with 13 home runs and 74 RBIs for Class A Jupiter -- could be a candidate to win the starting first-base job.

As of now, the Marlins will have 64 players in big league camp this spring.
