The Rangers' right-hander gave up two runs on three hits and one walk over three innings, striking out three, in a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs.
He threw about 20 more pitches in the bullpen at HoHoKam Park after his game innings, and then called it a day. The Cubs started most of their regulars on Sunday, and both runs scored on groundouts.
"You have to make your pitches, regardless of who is out there, but when you see their everyday lineup, you get a better feel for your stuff," Harrison said.
He's been working on a cutter for about a week, and threw seven or eight in the game. He just needs more time.
"It's getting there, but I have things to work on, especially my changeup," he said. "I'm struggling a little bit with it right now. I have to get back to not babying it and throwing the pitch. I'm working on a cutter right now, and I think it is really going to help."
Jason Jennings, trying to bounce back from elbow problems last season, threw two hitless innings in relief, walking two and striking out one. He's coming off an 0-5, 8.56 ERA season with Texas.
Earlier Sunday, three Texas pitchers participated in an intrasquad game in Surprise, facing Minor League hitters. Thomas Diamond gave up one run on two hits, including a homer by Mitch Moreland, and struck out four over three innings, and Doug Mathis gave up one run on three hits and three walks over four innings. Willie Eyre threw 22 pitches over 1 1/3 innings and gave up one hit.
Also, the Rangers have yet to announce when Brandon McCarthy will get in a Cactus League game. McCarthy, who had some stiffness in his shoulder, threw 62 pitches without a problem in a "B" game against Kansas City on Friday.
Infielder Joaquin Arias is expected to be back with the Rangers on Monday. He had returned to the Dominican Republic to attend to a family matter.
