Reddick's double lifts Sox past Bucs
Lester allows first earned run of spring in 2 1/3 innings of work

Red Sox at the plate: Boston scored nine of its runs courtesy of the long ball, but it was Josh Reddick's RBI double in the 10th inning that proved to be the difference. Brad Wilkerson provided a big blast early, smacking a grand slam in the second inning. Designated hitter Josh Bard had a three-run homer in the first and finished with two hits and scored three runs. Infielder Nick Green and catcher Dusty Brown had solo shots. Outfielder Jeff Bailey also finished with a multi-hit game and two runs scored.

Pirates at the plate: In his first game back from a shoulder injury, Jose Tabata went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Outfielder Andrew McCutchen had a two-hit, two-RBI game. Outfielder Nyjer Morgan broke out of a mini-slump with a 2-for-3 afternoon that included one run scored. Catcher Robinzon Diaz and third baseman Neil Walker also both finished with multi-hit games.
Red Sox on the mound: After two scoreless appearances earlier this spring, starter Jon Lester allowed one earned run on four hits in 2 1/3 innings in Monday's start. He struck out two. Hideki Okajima pitched one scoreless inning of relief, while reliever Takashi Saito allowed one run on one hit and two walks in one inning. Pirates on the mound: A victim of two home runs, starter Tom Gorzelanny allowed five runs (four earned) over two-plus innings. He gave up two hits, walked one and hit a batter. Relievers Craig Hansen and Tyler Yates tossed a scoreless frame apiece. In his first appearance of the spring, Brian Slocum surrendered three runs on four hits in one inning. Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 5-6, Pirates 8-4 Up next: The Pirates will enjoy their first off-day of the spring on Tuesday, and with no workouts scheduled, the team will truly have the day off. The club will then make its first trip of the spring to Dunedin, Fla., to face the Blue Jays in a 1:05 p.m. ET game on Wednesday.The Red Sox will host the Orioles on Tuesday afternoon at 1:05, and the contest will mark the return of Mike Lowell. After undergoing offseason surgery to repair an injured right hip, Lowell will serve as the club's designated hitter.
