JUPITER, Fla. -- The Cardinals have another achy outfielder.

Chris Duncan was held out of Wednesday's game due to groin soreness. A day earlier, he was removed from St. Louis' game against Detroit when he first felt the condition while returning to first base after a single.

"Coming back to the bag, he tweaked his groin a little bit," said manager Tony La Russa. "That's why he had to come out [Tuesday] and he's not playing [Wednesday]. He just made a move, jumped back in there. They don't think it's real serious. It may have been scar tissue or something. But we'll just try to be real careful with him."

Colby Rasmus has also been dealing with a minor injury, but Rasmus believes he is close to a return to action. He was not in the lineup on Tuesday or Wednesday as a result of some discomfort in his left hamstring.

"I'll be in there [Thursday]," Rasmus said. "It's good."

However, it's more likely that Rasmus' return to active duty won't come until Friday. The Cardinals have a doubleheader that day, and La Russa wants to make sure that he is available to play in one of the two games.
