NewsLincecum finds problem in delivery
Starter notices flaw that could be reason for struggles

LOS ANGELES -- Giants ace Tim Lincecum has noticed a flaw in his pitching delivery that could have caused the problems he endured in his first two starts. Simply put, Lincecum's upper and lower body aren't in sync. Lincecum, an expert regarding his own mechanics, delivered a detailed explanation Wednesday by pointing out that his upper and lower body turn on different "axes," creating the torque that helps him impart force on his deliveries. But the two parts lack coordination with each other. "I'm not finding the right timing," Lincecum said. The Cy Young Award winner cited his inability to land in the same spot with his front (left) foot as proof that he's off-kilter. "The smallest thing can make a big difference," Lincecum said. Lincecum said that he and pitching coach Dave Righetti compared videotapes of games from his first two seasons with footage from his 2009 outings. "It's a difference that I would notice," said Lincecum, who's 0-1 with a 7.56 ERA. "Somebody else might not."Chris Haft is a reporter for MLB.com.
