La Serie Azul postponed from May 16
Mexican League has closed for week due to flu concerns
LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers have postponed the regular-season Mexican League game that was scheduled to be played at Dodger Stadium on May 16. The game is expected to be rescheduled.
The current Mexican League schedule has been disrupted as a result of the swine flu outbreak in Mexico. The decision to postpone the game at Dodger Stadium was made because of conditioning concerns, with the closure of Mexican League play for at least one week.
"With the Mexican League having postponed its games and closed its offices for a week, it makes sense for us to reschedule this game," said Joseph Reaves, Dodgers director of international relations. "We remain committed to this exciting partnership and are confident La Serie Azul can become a successful and historic event."
Dubbed La Serie Azul, the game was to feature the league's top two teams, the Diablos Rojos of Mexico City and the Sultanes of Monterrey.
All tickets that have been purchased will be honored on the rescheduled date.
