MILWAUKEE -- Brewers backup catcher Mike Rivera is to begin a three-game Minor League rehabilitation assignment on Monday, and if all goes well, he will be back behind the plate at Miller Park on Thursday afternoon.

Rivera, on the 15-day disabled list since April 29 with a sprained left ankle, will join the Triple-A Nashville Sounds on Monday afternoon in Omaha for a series finale before the team heads home to face Reno on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. He'll hustle back to Milwaukee to catch starter Dave Bush on Thursday.

Carlos Corporan, who has caught two innings and singled in his only plate appearance as Rivera's temporary replacement, will be optioned back to Nashville when Rivera returns. Regular catcher Jason Kendall has started every game this month with Rivera on the DL.

Rivera is hitting .308 this season (4-for-13) with one RBI as Bush's personal catcher.
