Parra improving every time out

Milwaukee (18-14) vs. Florida (17-15), 7:05 p.m. CT

05/10/09 8:54 PM ET

MILWAUKEE -- Don't let Manny Parra's 1-4 record fool you. The Brewers southpaw has been pitching his best baseball of the young season.

Although he took a no-decision on May 1 after allowing three hits and a run in six innings against Arizona, Parra finally earned a victory last Wednesday against the Reds.

Though he needed 119 pitches to get his team into the seventh inning, he gave up eight hits and two runs in six innings. It wasn't his strongest line of the season, but he's sure to enter the contest against the Marlins with some much-needed confidence.

Pitching matchup
MIL: LHP Manny Parra (1-4, 4.88 ERA)
Parra is making just his second career start against the Marlins. In April 2008, Parra received a no-decision after tossing 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball.

FLA: LHP John Koronka (0-0, -.--)
The Marlins called up Koronka from Triple-A New Orleans on Sunday, sending down outfielder Cameron Maybin to make room. Koronka, a former Chicago Cub and Texas Ranger, has thrown back-to-back scoreless five-inning starts for New Orleans. The left-hander is taking Anibal Sanchez's spot in the rotation for the time being. On May 7, Sanchez exited after 4 2/3 innings with right shoulder discomfort and will be on the disabled list for two months. Koronka hasn't pitched in the Majors since 2007 and has never faced Milwaukee. The Brewers are hitting .262 as a team against left-handers this season.
