CLEVELAND -- Ellis Burks and Jason Bere each hold the title of "special assistant to baseball operations" in the Indians' organization.

And in keeping with those titles, Burks and Bere will be lending a helping hand for the Indians, whose first pick will be No. 15 overall at this year's First-Year Player Draft.

The Draft's first round will be held at the MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J., and Burks and Bere will be on-hand to announce the Tribe's selection with the 15th overall pick.

MLB.com will offer live coverage and analysis of the entire amateur Draft on June 9-11. The MLB Network will broadcast the first round at 6 p.m. ET on June 9 from its Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J., and those 32 selections also will be simulcast live on MLB.com.

Beginning with the 33rd pick, up-to-the-minute on-air coverage from the remaining rounds will shift exclusively to MLB.com/Live, where host Vinny Micucci will be joined by MLB.com Draft expert Jonathan Mayo and Major League Scouting Bureau director Frank Marcos.

Once the first night is done, the Draft will continue with the rounds 4-30, via conference call, from MLB Headquarters in New York, at noon on Wednesday, June 10. Rounds 31-50 will be on Thursday, June 11, starting at 11:30 a.m.

Burks, the 20th overall selection in the January phase of the 1983 Draft, went on to become a two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger winner (1990 with the Red Sox and '96 with the Rockies), as well as a Gold Glove Award winner in 1990. His 18-year Major League career included three seasons with the Indians from 2001-03. He finished his career with a .291 average, 352 homers and 1,206 RBIs in 2,000 games.

This is Burks' fourth season serving as a special assistant to the Tribe, and his primary responsibilities are to assist the coaching staff in Spring Training and evaluate position players within the player development system.

Bere, a 30th-round pick by the White Sox in 1990, pitched parts of 11 seasons in the big leagues from 1993-2003. He went 71-65 with a 5.14 ERA in 211 appearances, including 203 starts, for the White Sox, Reds, Brewers, Indians and Cubs. He was an All-Star with the Sox in 1994.

Also in his fourth season assisting the Tribe front office, Bere's responsibility is to help evaluate the pitchers in the development system.
