Pair joins staunch list of siblings who homered on same day

ANAHEIM -- Forgive Jayson Nix if he didn't have perfect recall following the White Sox 4-2 victory over the Angels on Tuesday night at Angel Stadium. After finishing off his first career multihomer game, coming on the same night his brother, Laynce Nix, went deep for the Reds against Houston, Jayson was asked when was the last time they both homered on the same night. "I think we did it earlier this year, if I'm not mistaken," Nix said. Close but not as much of a connection as the two pitches he launched off Angels starter Joe Saunders. Jayson Nix previously had homered on May 7 and 12, not originally breaking camp with the White Sox while rehabbing a right quadriceps injury from Spring Training. Laynce Nix homered on April 28, May 11 and May 16. They both now have four home runs but no crossover until Tuesday. With the White Sox having a late start on the West Coast, Jayson was well aware of Laynce's fourth-inning blast off Houston ace Roy Oswalt in Cincinnati. "Yeah, I saw that right before I went out," Jayson said. So, the Nix brothers now join a quite impressive list of brothers who have cleared the fences on the same night. The tandems of Jason and Jeremy Giambi, Vladimir and Wilton Guerrero, Billy Ripken and Cal Ripken Jr., Billy and Tony Conigliaro, Matty and Jesus Alou, Hank and Tommie Aaron and Paul and Lloyd Waner all reached this accomplishment as part of the same team. "Really, I just got the barrel on a couple of balls," Jayson said of his night.
