Feds want Bonds evidence allowed

06/01/09 9:25 PM ET

Federal prosecutors are urging an appeals court to let them present evidence against Barry Bonds that a trial court judge tossed from his perjury trial, according to The Associated Press.

Prosecutors asked the appeals court Monday to allow them to present, among other things, test results purporting to show that Bonds used performance-enhancing drugs, the report said.

Drug Policy in Baseball

In February, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston ruled that any evidence connected to Bonds' personal trainer, Greg Anderson, was off limits. Anderson has told the judge he would go to jail rather than testify against Bonds.

Bonds has pleaded not guilty to lying to a federal grand jury in 2003, when he denied knowingly taking performance-enhancing drugs.

The government filed its plea with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
