Day 2 did not, and Day 3 won't get the same kind of attention, but that doesn't mean teams won't be picking up future All-Stars.
A's outfielder Matt Holliday, for instance, was the 210th overall selection in the 1998 Draft, taken in the seventh round by the Rockies. He made his big league debut in 2004 and is a three-time All-Star and former National League batting and RBIs champion. Several standout members of the Oakland pitching staff were taken after No. 111, too.
• Rookie closer Andrew Bailey was a sixth-round selection (188th overall) of the A's in 2006.
• Opening Night starter Dallas Braden went 727th overall (24th round) to Oakland in 2004 and was in the bigs by 2007.
• Brad Ziegler was a 20th-rounder (595th overall) for the Phillies in 2003 and gained national acclaim as a record-setting rookie reliever with the A's last season.
• Left-hander Josh Outman, who went 307th overall (10th round) to the Phillies in 2005, is among the top rookie starters in the game.
