Escobar set to begin throwing Monday
Righty ahead of schedule, preparing to throw out of 'pen
ANAHEIM -- Before Saturday's game against the Padres, Angels manager Mike Scioscia was happy to report starting pitcher Kelvim Escobar is ahead of schedule and will start throwing on Monday.
"Escobar is feeling better, so he is going to throw first and hopefully not be that far off," Scioscia said. "If he is feeling good after that and available, we would love to have him back."
The Angels are monitoring Escobar's progress closely with the hope that he will be able to pitch out of the bullpen for the rest of the season.
Pain began to resurface in Escobar's right shoulder after his start Thursday against the Rays. In the game, Escobar gave up two earned runs over five innings pitched.
