Outfielder hits .320 with four homers and nine RBIs in June

ANAHEIM -- Nolan Reimold was named the American League's Rookie of the Month for June on Friday in recognition for his stellar play. Reimold, Baltimore's left fielder, batted .320 in 26 games during June and led all AL rookies with four home runs. He also drove in nine runs and scored 13 during the month.Reimold, a former second-round Draft pick, began the year in Triple-A Norfolk but was promoted after bursting out of the gates with nine home runs and a .394 average through his first 31 games. Reimold slowly wrested away playing time from Felix Pie and has emerged as the undisputed starter in left field.
The 25-year-old had six multihit games during June, including three three-hit outings. Reimold leads all AL rookies in batting average (.296), home runs (nine), RBIs (20), slugging percentage (.533) and on-base percentage (.375). Along with Adam Jones and Nick Markakis, he gives Baltimore a young, dynamic outfield.
Other rookies that received consideration for the Rookie of the Month Award were Baltimore right-hander Brad Bergesen and left-handed pitcher Ricky Romero of the Toronto Blue Jays.
