Cruz scratched from Sunday's lineup
Slugger listed as day-to-day with fractured right ring finger
ARLINGTON -- Nelson Cruz was scratched from the Rangers' lineup about an hour before the game against the Twins on Sunday due to a fracture in his right ring finger.
Cruz isn't expected to be placed on the disabled list and is listed as day-to-day. He was replaced in right field by Andruw Jones and in the lineup by David Murphy. Cruz injured the finger in a play against the Twins on Saturday night. He avoided a tag by Joe Nathan while running to first base, and then injured his finger diving into the bag. The Home Run Derby runner-up is second in the American League with 23 home runs, one behind leader Carlos Pena. Cruz entered Sunday leading the American League with a home run every 13.26 at-bats.Daniel Paulling is an associate reporter for MLB.com.xx This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.
