Minors trio suspended for using PEDs

Former Rays prospect, two Mets farmhands out 50 games

08/17/09 7:24 PM ET

A trio of Minor Leaguers in the Dominican Summer League were suspended for 50 games for the use of performance-enhancing drugs, the Commissioner's Office announced Monday.

Free agent pitcher Noel De Leon, formerly of the Rays organization, and two pitchers in the Mets organization, Pedro De Los Santos and Luis Hernandez, were suspended in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program.

All three pitchers were suspended after testing positive for metabolites of Stanozolol, an anabolic steroid derived from testosterone.

The suspensions of De Los Santos and Hernandez are effective immediately.
