Prospect Nunez receives suspension

Former Dodgers farmhand tests positive for Stanozolol

08/28/09 7:20 PM ET

CINCINNATI -- Former Dodgers Minor Leaguer pitcher Jonady Nunez has received a 50-game suspension for testing positive for Stanozolol, a performance-enhancing substance. Nunez violated the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program with the positive test.

Nunez most recently pitched for the Dodgers' Dominican Summer League team. He played for the team from 2008-09. With the summer league team, he was 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA in 18 games. Nunez's suspension will be effective when he signs with a Major League team.
