Panthers highlight thrilling day of games

The morning started well for the Benton Panthers from Arkansas on Friday.After falling behind, 5-2, after four innings, the Panthers scored four times in the top of the fifth and then hung on for a 6-5 victory over the Chino Hill Stars (Calif.) on Friday in the U-10 Division at the National Youth Baseball Championships in Cordova, Tenn.
The Panthers' victory opened up a full slate of games in the U-10 Division.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but things slowly unraveled from there.
The Stars scored twice in the second, once in the third, and twice more in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.
However, the Stars' offensive surge just set up the Panthers' thrilling comeback in the fifth.
Dallas Tigers 11, Team Georgia 0
It didn't take long for the team from Dallas to show off its offensive might.
The Dallas Tigers scored six times in the bottom of the second on their way to an 11-0 victory over Team Georgia.
The Tigers' pitching held up, and they scored three more times in the third and then kept piling on in a two-run fourth.
N. Texas Bulldogs 7, San Diego Stars 5
The N. Texas Bulldogs shook off an early 4-2 deficit to defeat the San Diego Stars, 7-5.
After a scoreless frame, the Bulldogs scored in every inning from the second to the sixth.
With score tied at 5, the Bulldogs went ahead with a run in the fifth, and then added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.
Dallas Tigers 9, N. Texas Bulldogs 6
The Dallas Tigers scored two times in the third and five times in the fourth on their way to a 9-6 victory over the N. Texas Bulldogs on Friday.
Tigers catcher Syler Shepherd finished with two hits and scored three runs in the victory.
W. Tenn. Wildcats 7, Chino Hill Stars (Calif.) 4
The W. Tennessee Wildcats scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back.
Weston Bizzle went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and the Wildcats beat the Chino Hills Stars, 7-4, on Friday evening.
Chino Hills, which lost to the Benton Panthers earlier in the day, fell to 0-2 for the day.
Sandtown Red Sox (Ga.) 2, Benton Panthers 0
After coming from behind in their first game, the Benton Panthers couldn't muster up any magic in their second.
The Sandtown Red Sox scratched across a run in the bottom of the first and then made it stand up in a 2-0 victory on Friday night.
Third baseman Chareef Allen led the Sandtown offense with two hits and an RBI.
The U-10 Division will conclude on Saturday, when the first semifinal game begins at 10 a.m. ET. The second semifinal is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and the championship is set for 4 p.m.
