Twins to unveil Target Field vs. Red Sox
Minnesota opens 50th season in 2010 on road against Halos
MINNEAPOLIS -- Outdoor baseball will officially return to Minnesota on April 12, 2010, when the Twins open their new home, Target Field, against the Red Sox.The Twins' 2010 schedule was announced on Tuesday, and the inaugural season at Target Field will kick off with a nine-game homestand featuring three-game series against the Red Sox, Royals and Indians. Opening Day at Target Field on Monday, April 12, will be marked with a 3:10 p.m. CT game against the Red Sox, followed by an off-day and then two 12:10 p.m. games vs. Boston on April 14-15. The Twins will then host the Royals (April 16-18) before closing out the homestand with three contests against the Indians (April 20-22). Before unveiling their new ballpark, the Twins will begin their 50th season on the road with a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on April 5-8, and Minnnesota will then travel to Chicago for three games with the White Sox on April 9-11. While the Twins won't begin regular-season games at Target Field until April 12, the club has already announced that it will host the Cardinals in a pair of exhibition games at its new home on April 2-3. In addition to the Opening Series against the Red Sox, the first season at Target Field will be highlighted by a visit by the Yankees on May 25-27, a Memorial Day weekend series against the Rangers on May 28-30 and a Fourth of July weekend series vs. the Rays on July 1-4. Interleague Play will feature visits by the Brewers (May 21-23), Braves (June 11-13) and Rockies (June 15-17). As far as Interleague travel is concerned, the Twins will make their first trip to Citi Field in New York to play the Mets from June 25-27. The club will also make its first trip to the Phillies' Citizens Bank Park for the first time since 2002 on June 18-20. The schedule will also include a weekday series at Miller Park against the Brewers on June 22-24. The Twins are scheduled to play nine home games in April, 18 in May, 12 in June, 13 in July, 11 in August and 15 in September. The inaugural regular season at Target Field will wrap up with a four-game series against the Blue Jays from Sept. 30-Oct 3.
