Former big league infielder Chuck Knoblauch appeared in court on Tuesday to face assault charges brought by his common-law wife.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Knoblauch's wife told police he hit her in the face and choked her on Friday at their Houston home.

A judge set Knoblauch's bond at $10,000.

Knoblauch, 41, a Houston native, was a four-time All-Star during a 12-year career with the Royals, Twins and Yankees that ended in 2002. He also played in five World Series, winning with the 1991 Twins and 1998-2000 Yankees, and losing in seven games to Arizona with New York in 2001.
