Yankees outfielder greeted with ovation prior to Game 6

NEW YORK -- Bernie Williams waved his hands above his head and walked to the top of the pitcher's mound at Yankee Stadium, letting the applause rain down upon him.Williams enjoyed a loud ovation in the Bronx on Sunday, presenting the ceremonial first pitch to start off Game 6 of the American League Championship Series between the Yankees and the Angels.
Wearing a Yankees jacket and blue jeans, Williams was introduced to chants of "Ber-nie Will-iams!" from the fans and made his toss from the rubber, received by backup catcher Jose Molina.
A four-time World Series champion and five-time All-Star who played 16 seasons with the Yankees, Williams played at the opening of the new Yankee Stadium on April 16, bringing his guitar out to center field and strumming "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" to chants of his name.
The 41-year-old also brought down the house at the closing of the old Yankee Stadium, returning after a two-year absence and donning the pinstripes one more time to line up along Yankees legends of years gone by.
Williams played for the Puerto Rico entry in the World Baseball Classic this spring, and soon after acknowledged that he is in all likelihood now retired. His second musical endeavor, "Moving Forward," was released this year by Reform Records and he is currently touring promoting the album.
