Deals for O'Dowd, Tracy may follow WS

Contracts for GM, skipper expected to be at least three years

10/29/09 12:02 PM ET

DENVER -- The expected new contracts for manager Jim Tracy and general manager Dan O'Dowd should be completed and announced after the World Series.

The Denver Post reported that Tracy is close to a three-year deal and O'Dowd's contract will be at least that long. A club official told MLB.com that nothing will become official until after the World Series is completed, since Major League Baseball discourages teams from making major announcements during this period.

Tracy went 74-42 and led the team to the National League Wild Card after taking over for Clint Hurdle on May 29. O'Dowd has been general manager since 2000. He presided over a long rebuilding project before the team made it to the World Series in '07 and made the playoffs again in '09.
