The Jays made a waiver claim Thursday, grabbing left-handed reliever Sean Henn from the Orioles. To make room for Henn on the 40-man roster, the Jays designated catcher Michael Barrett for assignment. Henn, 28, has bounced around quite a bit the past few years. He split his '09 season between the Twins and Orioles, compiling an 0-3 record and 7.53 ERA in 26 total appearances. After signing a Minor League deal with the Twins, he began the year at Triple-A Rochester, where he was 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA in 28 games. The O's acquired him in early September. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Henn was a 26th-round pick in the 2000 First-Year Player Draft by the Yankees, for whom he made his Major League debut in 2005. He spent three years with the New York and played the 2008 season with the Padres. In 60 career appearances in the big leagues -- including five starts -- he is 2-9 with a 7.56 ERA. Barrett, 33, was expected to be the Jays' backup catcher this past season, but he had an injury-prone year that limited him to just seven games at the Major League level.Anthony Castrovince is a reporter for MLB.com.
