Game 3 ratings are Halloween treat

Yankees' win is most-watched Saturday game in five years

11/01/09 3:30 PM EST

The Yankees' Halloween night win over the Phillies was the most-watched World Series game on a Saturday in five years.

Game 3 -- an 8-5 Yankees win for a 2-1 Series lead -- drew 15.4 million viewers, a 57-percent increase over last year's Game 3 between the Phillies and Rays. The last Saturday game to draw more viewers was Game 1 between the Red Sox and Cardinals in 2004.

Through three games, this year's World Series has averaged 17.9 million viewers, a 46-percent increase over the first three games last year and the highest average since 2004.

The Yankees and Phillies will be at it again on Sunday night in Game 4 at 8:20 p.m. ET.
