Heisey homers in Saguaros' win
Reds prospect among AFL leaders in many categories

Reds prospect Chris Heisey continued to hammer Arizona Fall League pitching with a solo homer Wednesday, powering the Peoria Saguaros to a 3-2 triumph over the Phoenix Desert Dogs.Selected to participate in Saturday's Rising Stars Showcase, Heisey connected in the fourth inning off Athletics right-hander James Simmons (1-2) to open the scoring. After combining for 22 homers at Double-A Carolina and Triple-A Louisville, Heisey is hitting .365 and ranks among the AFL leaders in total bases (46), extra-base hits (12), runs scored (15) and slugging percentage (.730).
Indians Minor Leaguer Matt McBride contributed three hits, including a double, to raise his average to .405. Lance Zawadzki (Padres) doubled and scored the decisive run on a base hit by Carlos Rivero (Indians).
Astros right-hander Wilton Lopez (2-0) lowered his ERA to 1.38 after allowing two hits and striking out two over three scoreless innings for Peoria. Evan Scribner (Padres) recorded the final two outs for his first AFL save.
Rays farmhand Shawn O'Malley reached base three times and drove in a run for the Desert Dogs (12-8), who scored twice in the bottom of the ninth when O'Malley and Matt Angle (Orioles) were hit by pitches with the bases loaded.
Simmons, Oakland's first-round pick in the 2007 Draft, allowed two runs on six hits and fanned two over 4 2/3 innings. Matt Gorgen, who will represent Tampa Bay in the Rising Stars Showcase, fanned two and allowed one hit in an inning of scoreless relief.
