A new season of MLB Network's Studio 42 with Bob Costas premieres on Tuesday, November 10 with an exclusive sit-down interview with Major League Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig at 8:00 p.m. ET. In the premiere episode, Costas and Selig discuss umpiring, stadium ticket prices, competitive balance, scheduling, performance enhancing drugs and former MLB player and manager Pete Rose.Costas, one of the most accomplished and highly decorated sports broadcasters in history, will continue to host new one-hour interviews every Tuesday in November, including a conversation with longtime Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell on November 17. Additional episodes focusing on the history of baseball and the game's most significant figures and topics will follow.
The first season of Studio 42 with Bob Costas debuted on January 1, 2009 with an interview with Don Larsen & Yogi Berra that was interspersed throughout the airing of Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series, which appeared on television for the first time since its original broadcast. Other interviews throughout the season featured former St. Louis Cardinals teammates Hall of Famer Bob Gibson and Tim McCarver, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Joe Torre, author and former New York Yankees pitcher Jim Bouton, and former Major League Baseball umpires Don Denkinger, Bruce Froemming and Steve Palermo.
"'Studio 42' gives us the time and the setting to do justice to a wide variety of baseball subjects. Some are topical and journalistic; others are appreciations of the game and its history. Either way, it's great to be able to cover baseball this way," said Costas.
