Torre gets into act with cameo roles

Dodgers manager plays himself in two television spots

02/08/10 4:17 PM EST

LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers manager Joe Torre moonlighted over the winter as an actor playing himself in cameo appearances on ABC's "Castle" and CBS's "Gary Unmarried."

In Monday night's episode of "Castle," a former Major League Baseball player is found dead after a goodwill trip to Cuba. The investigation, which includes running into Torre, leads the detectives into New York's Cuban community to solve the murder.

According to the Ausiello Files at EW.com, "We'll come to learn that Beckett is a huge JT fan -- so huge that she passes out at the sight of him. The episode also guest stars Reaper's Ray Wise as the dead player's sports agent."

In the March 10 episode of "Gary Unmarried," Torre also has a cameo role as himself with the show's star, Jay Mohr, and Rob Riggle of "The Daily Show."

In addition to countless interview shows, Torre's acting resume includes appearances on "The Tony Danza Show" and "Sesame Street" in 2005, "Analyze That" in 2002, "Spin City" in 1998 and "Cosby" in 1996.
