Yankees at the plate: Center fielder Curtis Granderson led the game off with a double to left field and quickly crossed home plate on a base hit from Nick Johnson. Second baseman Robinson Cano went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs, and shortstop Ramiro Pena added a run-scoring double.

Blue Jays at the plate: Leadoff man Jose Bautista opened the home half of the first inning with a solo home run to left field, giving the right fielder five blasts this spring. Bautista finished 1-for-3, ending the day with a .440 Grapefruit League average. Designated hitter Adam Lind went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

Yankees on the mound: Right-hander A.J. Burnett allowed two runs on five hits over 4 2/3 innings for New York, striking out two and issuing two walks. It was Burnett's final appearance of the spring leading up to his outing against the Red Sox on Tuesday at Fenway Park. Joba Chamberlain allowed no runs in his eighth-inning appearance.

Blue Jays on the mound: Left-hander Brian Tallet, who is slated to start against the Rangers on Wednesday in Toronto's second game of the regular season, worked five innings in his final outing of the spring. Tallet allowed three runs (two earned) on eight hits, ending with one strikeout and no walks. Casey Janssen kept his flawless spring line intact with one shutout frame out of the bullpen.

Worth noting: It marked the first time that Chamberlain pitched in back-to-back games this spring. ... Yankees catcher Jorge Posada (stiff neck) and third baseman Brandon Laird (sore right elbow) were scratched from Thursday's lineup. ... Blue Jays catcher John Buck was also a late scratch.

Grapefruit League records: Blue Jays 11-13-1; Yankees 13-15.

Up next: On Friday, the Blue Jays will face the Astros in the first of two weekend exhibition games at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Left-hander Ricky Romero, who will open as Toronto's No. 3 starter, will take the mound in the 8:05 p.m. ET tilt, which will be live on MLB.TV. It will be Romero's final tune-up outing in preparation for his start against the Rangers next Thursday in Arlington.

The Yankees will play their final Grapefruit League home game on Friday, sending Andy Pettitte to the mound in a tune-up start before he draws the third game of the season on Wednesday against the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Alfredo Simon will make the start for the visiting Orioles in the 1:05 p.m. start on MLB.TV.
