DENVER -- Dante Bichette will never be forgotten in Rockies lore. Now he's a part of the club's present.
Bichette will represent his former club at the 2010 MLB First-Year Player Draft in which will be televised live on MLB Network at 5 p.m. MT on June 7 from MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J. Before that telecast, at 4 p.m. MT, MLB Network and MLB.com will simulcast a Draft preview show with Greg Amsinger, Harold Reynolds, John Hart, Peter Gammons, MLB.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo and Baseball America magazine senior editor John Callis.
Last month, the Rockies honored Bichette, a longtime Major League outfielder and member of the original Rockies in 1993 and one of the team's first stars, in a special ceremony at Coors Field. Bichette made four All-Star Game appearances in purple pinstripes, and was voted by fans as a starter in 1994.
All 30 clubs will have a representative who will announce the picks made during Compensation Round A, picks 33-50.
The Draft will last three days, with MLB Network and MLB.com providing live coverage during the first round and first compensation round. The Draft will resume at 10 a.m. MT on June 8 and 9 via conference call from MLB headquarters in New York.
