DENVER -- Luis Gonzalez and Roland Hemond will represent the Arizona Diamondbacks at the First-Year Player Draft on June 7 in Secaucus, N.J.

The pair serve as special assistants to team president and CEO Derrick Hall.

While Hemond has been in his role for several years now and has represented the D-backs at the Draft before, this will be Gonzalez's first time.

The Draft has certainly changed since Gonzalez was the Astros' fourth-round pick in 1988 and it is much different than it was when Hemond was making picks as the scouting director for the Angels during the first-ever Draft in 1965 and as general manager of the White Sox (1970-85) and Orioles (1988-95).

Back then, the Draft was done via a conference call among the clubs.

This year, MLB.com will offer live coverage and analysis of the entire First-Year Player Draft on June 7-9 on MLB.com/Live. The first round and Compensation Round A will be broadcast live from MLB Network's Studio 42 in Secaucus, N.J., on MLB.com and MLB Network on Monday, June 7, beginning with the Draft preview show at 3 p.m. MST.

MLB.com Draft expert Jonathan Mayo will join Greg Amsinger, Harold Reynolds, John Hart, Peter Gammons and Baseball America executive editor Jim Callis on Monday's broadcast.

Coverage for Rounds 2-50 will shift exclusively to MLB.com/Live, where Rounds 2-30 will be streamed on June 8, beginning at 9 a.m. MST, and Rounds 31-50 will be streamed on Wednesday, also starting at 9 a.m. MST. Host Pete McCarthy will be joined by Mayo and former general manager Jim Duquette.

The D-backs have the sixth overall pick this year. Last year they had a pair of first-round picks and chose Bobby Borchering at No. 16 and A.J. Pollock at 17.

Gonzalez starred for the D-backs from 1999-2006 and amassed 2,591 hits over his 19-year career. He is best known in Arizona for his bloop single off Yankees closer Mariano Rivera that drove home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7 of the 2001 World Series.

"It makes me feel really good that so many people still approach me to say where they were when I got that hit," Gonzalez said last year.

Gonzalez played his final season in 2008 for the Florida Marlins and he joined the D-backs front office last August.

Hemond is in his second tour of duty with the D-backs. He worked under former D-backs GM Joe Garagiola Jr. from 1996-2000, helping to get the Arizona franchise up and running.
