Rangers, Reds prospects earn Week 5 Player of the Week honors
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Peoria Saguaros infielder Kris Negron (CIN) and Surprise Rafters right-handed pitcher Eric Hurley (TEX) are the Arizona Fall League's week five player-of-the-week and pitcher-of-the-week, respectively.

Versatile infielder Kris Negron, who has played second base, third base and shortstop during the 2010 Fall League, hit .368 (7-19) last week with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 3 walks. He is tied for the league lead in homers (4) and triples (4).
Overall, the Willingboro, New Jersey native is hitting .297 (24-74) with 4 doubles, 4 triples, 4 homers and 16 RBIs with 8 walks.
Boston's seventh-round (223rd overall) Draft choice in 2006 out of Cosumnes River Community College in California, the 6-0, 180-pound Negron has been with the Cincinnati Reds' organization since 2009.
Negron, 24, split his 2010 season between Double-A Carolina and Triple-A Louisville, hitting a combined .269.
In his five-year professional career, he has hit .258 with 30 home runs and 178 RBIs.
Eric Hurley, Surprise Rafters
Hurley, 23, who returned to the mound in the Fall League for the first time since 2008 after losing the 2009-10 seasons to rotator cuff surgery, hurled five scoreless innings last week, allowing just three hits.
The Sikeston, Missouri native ranks among the Fall League leaders in numerous pitching categories, including ERA (sixth/2.29) and opponent batting average (fifth/.197). For the Fall League season, Hurley's line reads 2-0, 2.29 ERA, 5 starts, 19.2 innings pitched, 5 earned runs, 13 hits, 8 walks and 11 strikeouts.
A first-round (30th overall) Draft choice of the Rangers in 2004 out of Wolfson (FL) High School, the 6-4, 195-pound Hurley's five-year (2004-08) Minor League statistics prior to his injury include a 34-30 composite record and 3.97 ERA in 108 games (101 starts). He also made his Major League debut for the Rangers in 2008, posting a 1-2 record and 5.47 ERA in five games (all starts).
Other nominees: Other players receiving player-of-the-week consideration were three Peoria Javelinas -- second baseman Dustin Ackley (SEA), outfielder Juan Carlos Linares and Mark Rzepczynski (TOR) -- and Phoenix Desert Dogs right-handed pitcher Craig Heyer (NYY).
