LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers won't need to non-tender Ryan Theriot on Thursday, after trading him on Tuesday to the Cardinals for relief pitcher Blake Hawksworth.
Theriot was made expendable by the pending signing of free-agent infielder Juan Uribe, who will start at second base. Theriot was acquired from the Cubs with Ted Lilly at the Trade Deadline this summer to replace Blake DeWitt.
Hawksworth, 27, went 4-8 with a 4.98 ERA for the Cardinals as a swingman, pitching a total of 90 1/3 innings with 37 relief appearances and eight starts.
