WASHINGTON -- The Nationals agreed to terms on a Minor League contract with Chad Gaudin on Friday, extending the right-hander an invitation to Spring Training.

This past season, Gaudin posted a 1-4 record and a 5.65 ERA with the Yankees and Athletics.

Gaudin, 27, is 35-39 with a 4.61 ERA in 258 Major League games as a starter and reliever. In 2007, Gaudin tied for the American League lead with 34 starts en route to going 11-13 with a 4.42 ERA for Oakland.

In 183 career relief appearances, Gaudin has picked up 14 wins, two saves and 21 holds.

Gaudin made his Major League debut with the Rays in 2003. He also has played for the Cubs, Blue Jays and Padres.
