MILWAUKEE -- The Dominican Prospect League touted Milwaukee's signing of 17-year-old outfielder Elvis Rubio, but a Brewers official cautioned that Rubio must pass the age verification process required of players in the Dominican Republic before the deal is official.

That process will likely take several weeks, and if Rubio checks out he would receive a $95,000 bonus, according to the prospect league's website.

The Brewers see Rubio as a physical corner outfielder with a power bat and middle-of-the-lineup potential. He'll begin his career at the Brewers' academy in the Dominican Republic, where players typically spend several years before graduating to the Minor Leagues in the United States.
