Members of the Quad City River Bandits, the Cardinals' Class A affiliate, will have an opportunity to play under the bright lights of the big leagues on May 26, when they play the Kane County Cougars at Busch Stadium.
The game will be played in the evening; more details will be released as they become available. "We are happy to have a strong relationship with the Cardinals," River Bandits owner Dave Heller said in a statement. "This is going to be an exciting night for our fans, our staff and, perhaps most of all, our players. This is a rare occasion that these guys can play in a big league stadium before reaching the Major Leagues." This will mark the first time the River Bandits play a regular-season home game at Busch Stadium. All tickets will cost $10 (general admission) and will be available through the Busch Stadium Box Office (314-345-9600). "The Cardinals have a huge contingent of fans loyal to the organization and [who] follow the prospects through the entire Minor League system," sand River Bandits general manager Kirk Goodman. "This is going to be a great opportunity for some of the best fans in baseball to see many of their promising young prospects in person before they reach St. Louis at the Major League level. We also hope to see Bandits fans from the Quad Cities for this unique opportunity to see their hometown team on a Major League stage."Cash Kruth is a reporter for MLB.com Follow him on Twitter at @cashkruth.
